The Diabetes Prevention Program in North Haven, CT, warmly welcomes individuals seeking to make positive lifestyle changes through our comprehensive 12-week Intensive Lifestyle Intervention. Each week, participants engage in a one-hour healthy lifestyle class grounded in the curriculum designed by the National Institutes of Health. Our unique program emphasizes nutrition education tailored to serve the low literate and predominantly Latino populations, featuring cooking demonstrations that highlight seasonal produce harvested from our very own garden. With classes attended by 15-20 adults weekly, we foster a supportive environment where participants can also join professional trainer-led exercise sessions immediately afterward. Recognizing the importance of family in combating diabetes, we encourage participants to invite their loved ones to partake in nutrition classes alongside them. To support families further, onsite childcare is provided for infants and toddlers, ensuring an inclusive and enriching experience for all.
