San Juan Basin Public Health is dedicated to enhancing the health of our community through the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program in Durango, CO. Our mission is to provide essential food assistance and nutritional support to pregnant women, infants, and children, ensuring they receive the nutrition they need during critical stages of development. Participants benefit from eWIC debit cards for easy access to food, comprehensive nutrition assessments, and tailored education to promote healthy habits. Our breastfeeding support is available to encourage and assist new mothers. We welcome walk-in appointments on Fridays from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for WIC clients seeking follow-ups or re-certifications, while new clients and those adding a baby to their WIC plan should schedule an appointment. Individuals receiving Health First Colorado (Medicaid) automatically qualify for WIC, and our program is also accessible to those who exceed income limits for Medicaid, thereby allowing participation alongside Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Together, we’re committed to nourishing families and fostering a healthier future.
