Carolyn Coker Ross, MD, MPH, CEDS, is a distinguished African American author and speaker, recognized as an expert in the treatment of eating disorders, trauma, and addictions. She is board-certified in Preventive Medicine and Addiction Medicine, boasting a rich educational background from the University of Michigan Medical School, graduating in 1980. Dr. Ross has presented a TEDxPleasantGrove talk on 'Historical and Intergenerational Trauma' in January 2020 and is the author of three influential books on eating disorders, including her latest publication, 'The Food Addiction Recovery Workbook.' Furthermore, she contributed to 'Treating Black Women with Eating Disorders: A Clinician’s Guide' and is the co-founder of the Institute for Antiracism and Equity. With a former role as the medical director of the eating disorders program at Sierra Tucson, she has completed a two-year fellowship in Dr. Andrew Weil's Program in Integrative Medicine. Dr. Ross firmly believes in the self-healing capacity of the body, mind, and spirit.
