Laurie Markham is a dedicated Marriage and Family Therapist (MA, LMFT) who understands how the struggles of everyday life can deplete energy and lead to self-doubt. Through her supportive approach and engaging conversation, she empowers individuals to gain clarity and confidence, fostering the desired change they seek in their lives. With extensive training in postmodern therapies, Laurie examines the impact of dominant cultural discourses on lives, identities, and relationships, addressing the challenges that arise from these oppressive influences. Before establishing her private practice, she was part of UCLA's network, where she focused on integrating social justice aims within mental health models. With years of experience working with couples, families, youth, and adults, Laurie has a rich background that includes presenting nationally and internationally on therapy with children. Her teaching experience includes serving as a professor of marriage and family therapy at Pepperdine, a practicum instructor in CSUSB's school counseling program, and as clinical training director at USC. She is also the co-author of the book 'Narrative Therapy in Wonderland.' Laurie welcomes all inquiries regarding therapy, and if she is not the right fit, she will gladly offer her best recommendations. Known for her compassionate and person-centered approach, she offers both in-person and telehealth sessions to accommodate various schedules.
