Sydney Arkowitz understands that seeking therapy can be a challenging journey, and she is deeply interested in facilitating those initial steps. With a wealth of experience, she recognizes that traumatic experiences often underlie the issues clients present. Many individuals are surprised to learn just how these experiences impact their lives. Through her pro bono work with asylum seekers, Sydney has gained invaluable insights into the diverse ways trauma manifests and affects individuals. Despite this, she holds a profound respect for the enduring strengths and capacities within everyone she works with. Her goal is to help clients navigate and sort through their emotions, diminishing pain while allowing individuality to flourish. By actively listening, she invites clients to hear themselves and uncover the depths of their feelings. Sydney focuses particularly on various forms of anxiety, including those related to gender identity and sexual choice, as well as the anxieties stemming from life in a contemporary, uncertain world. Some clients come to her during a crisis, learn coping strategies, and then move on; others find their healing nurtured through longer-term engagement. Whether clients prefer to lie down to free their thinking or seek face-to-face contact, Sydney extends her compassionate listening to what lies beneath the surface, using her insights to facilitate understanding and growth.
