Seniors Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP)

The Seniors Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) in Selma, AL, is dedicated to enhancing food assistance for low-income seniors aged 60 and above by providing them with valuable coupons to purchase fresh, locally grown fruits, vegetables, honey, and fresh-cut herbs. Administered by the Alabama Department of Agriculture & Industries, this initiative empowers seniors to access healthy food options directly from farmers at approved farmers markets and roadside stands. Once approved, participants receive their food vouchers by mail, which are valid until November 15 of the same calendar year. Through SFMNP, we strive to foster community wellness, support local agriculture, and ensure that our senior population has the resources they need to lead healthy lives.
