Seniors Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP)

The Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) in Muscle Shoals, AL, is dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of low-income seniors aged 60 and above by providing essential food assistance through vouchers that can be used for fresh, locally grown produce, including fruits, vegetables, honey, and fresh-cut herbs. Administered by the Alabama Department of Agriculture & Industries, this program not only supports seniors in accessing nutritious foods at local farmers markets and roadside stands but also strengthens our community connections with local farmers. Eligible participants can receive their food vouchers by mail, which must be used by November 15 of the year issued, ensuring that our seniors can enjoy the best of what our local farms have to offer while promoting healthy eating habits for all in our community.
