General Assistance

At Chugachmiut in Sterling, AK, we are dedicated to supporting Alaska Natives and Native Americans in the Chugach Region, which includes Seward, Valdez, Port Graham, Nanwalek, Tatitlek, and Chenega, through our General Assistance program. We provide essential temporary aid, ensuring access to shelter, food assistance, clothing, and utility support to those in need. Our compassionate Local Community Health Representatives are here to guide clients through the application process and help them understand the benefits available through our program. Additionally, we collaborate with the Regional 477 Program Coordinator to empower individuals by connecting them with career and training opportunities to foster long-term self-sufficiency.
