David Moore

Dr. David Moore, a licensed psychologist with a PhD and MEd, serves as the Agency Psychologist at the Center for Systematic Therapy and Research Services (CSTARS). His extensive background includes a career in research at the University of Washington from 1987 to 2004 and faculty experience at Johns Hopkins Department of Mental Health between 2004 and 2007. Dr. Moore currently directs two pivotal clinical programs alongside Clinical Director Melissa Byrd: one focused on Relapse Prevention for those on the path to recovery from addiction and codependency, and the other dedicated to assisting individuals with sexual victimization recovery from childhood and young adult PTSD. In addition, he conducts neurodevelopmental assessments linked to the work of Dr. Stumme-Parks with CSTARS' ADHD clients. Dr. Moore’s approach emphasizes the individuality of each client, utilizing a variety of modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and an existential-humanistic approach. He recognizes that while CBT can serve as a universal guideline, true therapeutic progress stems from tailored strategies that resonate with each unique individual. Through both group and individual counseling, Dr. Moore aims to foster effective relationships and healthy boundaries, helping clients navigate the complexities of work, social contexts, and intimate partnerships.
