Turning Members from strangers to a part of the 7 cups family
Coming on to this site is a big step for some, it isnt easy coming on here and talking to people you dont know about your issues. As a listener we are here to advise those who are seeking help in situations they find hard to figure out on their own. Being a part of the 7 cups community gives others a sense of belonging. This site can help you turn the reason you came on this site in the first place to a experience you can use to help others who have gone through the same thing.
Welcoming new members is always important, remember the reason you came on here for and remember no one judges here, we are free to talk to people who are willing to listen, be the one to turn to others when you need someone to just listen, and when your ready if you feel as though this site was a great start to a new beginning then why not become a listener? A new start to leading your own life in a healthier way and a new start in helping those who are experiancing situations that you may be able to advise in.
Remeber this place is a community, a family and we help eachother in any way we can.
@HeartbreakloverK Beautiful statement! Thank you for reminding us to always welcome people who are new. It can be quite awkward at first to join a support site but it's well worth it in the end! I know 7cups has really changed my life in such positive ways. I'm glad to be amongst such admirable and awesome people like yourself!
I joined one week ago, and now have reached my seven day streak. I love the steps on the path. It makes it seem so much more doable. I am also amazed that someone on this thread encouraged new members to also become listeners. I had thought of taking the training because I thought improved listening skills would help me with my family and at work. I was planning to wait until I had been around longer for a variety of reasons. To hear someone say that new members should become listeners made me feel special because I didn't think that I could be of help to others as a new member. I am still to messed up. Maybe not.
@easyPenny1601 Aw hun! Don't feel like you HAVE to become a listener! There is no pressure! Just take your time if you want to remain a member then great! there is totally nothing wrong with that π Being a listener is something some people aim for on here but it's not a obligation nor will it ever be π You are doing an amazing job by even becoming a member and seeking support and audience here on 7 cups! If you want to remain a member then great! We are all here to listen and guide you through these challenging times Hun π
@HeartbreakloverK Thanks for the encouragement. I was more amazed to think that I have something to contribute. I am finding the whole community to be extremely welcoming and supportive. I plan to be around for a long time. I upgraded last night to help support the site. I am also encouraging others to join.
@easyPenny1601 Thay is great!! everyone here has their own stories and their own opinions of their site and tbh it's amazing, I love it here I've not been here for long but the time that I have been saved my life, I became a listener because I felt like I could repay the favour this site and the people here are so supportive and it's great that you've become part of the 7 cups family :)
@HeartbreakloverK I really liked the points that you made and I agree. It was really difficult for me becoming a member because I was so new to it and didn't feel like I belonged. But after learning about it I felt like family. Now I'm trying to become welcome to the listner community
.
@HeartbreakloverK This is a very interesting thread. Thank you for voicing out your opinion on this! highly appreciated and very informed! :D
Great ideas . I came on here because I was lonely.. I have found that when I help others laugh I feel so much better.@HeartbreakloverK
Lets all take part in welcoming new members with open arms!
@HeartbreakloverK Hello! This is a great post. I agree that it's very difficult for some to come onto this site and share their thoughts and feelings with complete strangers, so it's good to assure them that what they want to talk about is completely confidential and that we are trained active listeners here on 7cups. I was just accepted into the internship program yesterday and am still figuring out ways to contribute and fulfill my goals. Great job with this post - it is worded very well! Hope all is well.
