How do you talk to a Listener?
These past couple of months, I've been dealing off and on with some stressful situations and I've really wanted to be able to just vent/talk about it to somebody, but I'm not exactly sure how to get started. I'm super anxious and the thought of just talking about my troubles is both relieving and terrifying. Like, how should I behave, what should I say, are there any do's and don'ts when talking to a Listener (besides the obvious of not being rude and crude)? I understand that Listeners are here to help, but I'm terrified of being so awkward and socially inept to the point of accidentally offending someone and just making an awful experience for the both of us.
I'm sorry, this is probably a really stupid question, but I'm genuinely afraid that I might upset someone because I don't know the etiquette involved.in these kinds of situations.
Talking to a listener should be an open experience. Feel free to unload on them whatever is on your mind, they are not meant to be judgemental. They are here to support you and will try their best to make you feel the best you can feel in conversation :)
@Sesianna A couple do's and don't's more specifically would be:
Do ask for a name
Do mind manners
Do be open
Don't troll/be rude
Don't be afraid
Don't worry, we're here for you :)
(It's very relaxed, and you can choose your listener based on how you like)
