How do I deal with nightmares?

Hi everyone. I'll keep this post simple. I have been dealing with nightmares almost every night the past few weeks, and it is draining me. I already have trouble sleeping and staying asleep, so waking up from nightmares doesn't help. I have always had vivid dreams fairly frequently, but within the past few weeks my dreams have become more frequent (one time 3 nightmares in one night), and more violent. Even during the day once I'm awake I'll still think back to my nightmare and feel terrified, especially if it's closely related to my trauma.


What are your go to ways to deal with nightmares? What helps you before you go to sleep, what helps you as you try to sleep? What helps you after you've woken up from a nightmare, immediately after and during the rest of the day? Thank you for your words.

for me personally when i have nightmares , i just choose to forget them . but as far as your nightmares are concerned , if it is related to any your traumas , there must be an ending to dream that makes it a nightmare , you need to write your dream down and try it to give it a different ending while you are awake , read it a few times and you will be able to create your story in your dream.
