Cupsgiving 2024 - 3 Good Things of the Day

Hello everyone,

To celebrate Cupsgiving with you, here in the trauma support community, I want to invite you today to do an exercise with me around the topic of “Thankful Hearts”.

Too often, we tend to focus on everything that is an issue and not good at the moment as this is what we’re working on. This can lead to us feeling like everything in our world is going wrong and that there’s nothing good left in it. The following exercise can help to shift our view to actually see all the good in our life. Maybe it’s small things like a warm coffee, some sunlight, or just surviving, but sometimes we realise that there are also big good things in our life like meeting a friend, getting a kind message or being able to go on a walk. 

To do this exercise, write down 3 good things about that day everyday. Maybe make a list with all the days of the month and add the 3 good things to it every day. Or use some kind of app - there are so many free journaling and gratitude apps out there, you’ll definitely find one that fits your needs. And then, observe how you recognise more and more positive things in your days. And it’s also okay when it’s hard to find the good things sometimes. Just celebrate when you can find them and write them down. 

So, let’s start this exercise today: What are your 3 good things of today?
