Dealing with Academic Pressure
Dealing with Academic pressure
Maintaining a good academic record is what most of us aspire to achieve nowadays. The methods of achieving it are varied and are different for different people. However, one common method to ensure good marks in your examinations was, is and always will be – hard work and determination. However, some people may be putting in sufficient effort and may still feel unsure about their capability to perform. If you are such a person, you are not alone.
But fear not, for I have the perfect to-do list for you to do so that you will not experience exam stress
Make a study-schedule:
§ Familiarize yourself with the syllabus and material.
§ NEVER try to complete large amounts of portion in a small-time span – it almost always never works out, it is usually a waste of effort, time and energy.
§ Give yourself small rewards after completing your task for the day.
§ It is okay to have days where you aren’t as productive in general but make sure to regulate the number of times you do this.
§ If you’re thinking of making a study group, ensure that the group will actually study during that time and not just sit around and gossip
§ Find what your preferred learning style is and learn via that method. If you are a visual learner, you could watch videos on youtube which explain the concept
§ Get creative! Try making some notes of your own which always works out well by writing down the material on paper.
Execution of the schedule:
§ Adhere to the plan as much as possible. While it may seem tempting to delay some of the topics to the buffer days you have added, try to stick to the plan.
§ Never push forward the plan unless it Is absolutely necessary
§ Take breaks as appropriate. Exercising, sleeping enough and eating well are key for you to maintain your health.
§ Ensure you do not burn yourself out.
§ If you seem to struggle with a topic, reach out to your group or teacher for help.
§ Do not panic if you miss out on some topics. Buffer days may help or consider a crash course from a friend.
§ Do not doubt yourself or procrastinate – it only makes things worse at the end of the day.
On the approach of the day of the exam
§ Try revising your study material again and practicing some questions
§ Ideally, practice some previous year question papers
§ Go through your syllabus to ensure you have gone through everything required and haven’t missed out on any portion.
§ Do your favorite hobby, step outside and take a breather, hang out with friends.
With this I am sure that any one of you will certainly perform well in the examinations and also not have exam stress at all. Getting rid of your examination stress will at the end, lead you to performing better in the examinations and getting a good academic score.
Also remember life is a marathon and not a SPRINT.
