Hey all I'm fairly new Here first time making one of these but I'm struggling with narcissistic tendencies. My partner brings it up to me and I have been trying to figure out how to do cope with having these tendencies on my own. To no avail I might add. Anyone with any experience on this any help would be greatly appreciated thank you

@considerateAvocado8135 welcome to 7cups. I am sorry you are feeling challenges with your partner.

Narcissistic is a word with multiple meanings. Some people apply this term to anyone that is self centered, vain and or domineering. I find it helpful to ask people what behaviors do they see that they call narcissistic. We can change behaviors so let me look at what those are. Help me out without anger and tell me what behaviors bother you.

Some people that are narcissistic hide behind labelling others in that way, accusing them of all the things that they themselves do. Anger to me is a give away that they are not trying to help me but get me to believe what they believe, whether or not that is true.

There are many articles but here is one that may shed some light on the situation. https://www.healthline.com/health/therapy-for-narcissism#types-of-therapy

Hope you get the support you are looking for.

You have done so well reaching out at 7 Cups :) I would encourage you to try and explore how you feel and the ways in which it causes you to behave. Perhaps you could do some reading on the topic and see if anything resonates with you?
