is this addiction?

feelingtipsy May 23rd, 2021

i vape religiously. i don’t do it everyday, but if someone offered me it i couldn’t refuse: i vape about 4-5 times a week for hours and it’s likely because i’m not feeling well. it doesn’t affect me very much and i feel fine, the nicotine just gets to my brain. is this addiction?

@feelingtipsy Welcome to 7Cups feeling; we are happy to have you here with us. I am sorry to hear of your recent struggles. When it comes to addiction, it generally means being dependent on a substance/behaviro and not being able to function without it. However, everyone has their own view on it. How have you been coping?

If it is not everyday but still frequent i would say you’re close to addiction and from experience trying to stop ASAP is the best thing for you. addiction is horrible especially to nicotine

@feelingtipsy

In general, addiction has several criteria, such as interfering with jobs, family, and friends. It can cause less functioning with bodily functions and possible health conditions.

You are the decider about what works or not in your life. If you find that you want to change, but have difficulty, this alone doesn't mean that it is an addiction. However, if you truly want to quit, there are supports for it. Thanks. 😊

I hope this brief description is helpful.

I have been vaping non-stop recently. I only got into it a few months ago but it seems to be getting worse and worse. I really like it though much better than ciggarettes. I would probably try to minimise it and not buy your own if you don’t want it to get worse.
