Chat history
I'm a listener and i do a fair amount of convos.I find that the chat history doesnt go back to the beginning. If i could have the chat history,It would help a lot, In re evaluatingwhat i said and in reconnecting.
This is so true, it would be so helpful if I could look back sometimes!
Unfortunately, the site is currently set up to only show the last few messages to ensure confidentiality for all members. If you want to remember some of the details, you can use the notes section to jot down some notes for any conversation that you think you might be going back to.
when you put it that way , it does make sense. it was asked in good sense, But yes, maintainingprivacy should be paramount
I had this problem too. Simply logging stuff afterwards was not a solution. Good for summarising members and realtionship, greater problems, etc. Bad for when one wants full context memory. So now I use a third party app to save to a text log file on desktop.
Another thing is 7c notes: Those horrible, horrible non-saves. Seriously, hour long sessions? You won't have hour long saves because if you accidentally hit back, cancel, etc-- It doesn't tell you. *grrrfk noise*
This is basically what it comes down to: If you switch chat window (either to another listenee, group, out of dashboard altogether), offline saves 10 at a time. While still chatting, there's sometimes all the way to beginning. Aside from that, if you're in offline you're stuck with the 10. Which of course vanish as quickly as they come.
.log .txt. My love. Third party web outliners. My love.
I was away for a week and after I am back here, I was surprised to see that all the users I was chatting with are removed from the chat history. The history have some active guests as well. And this change in website or this basic programing of website is not good at all.. I would like to have my users back.
@youcantalk - I think after a week they disappear from the 'Chats' window, but you should still be able to find them in the 'My Impact' section if you scroll down. That should have all of your former chats in it.
No.. They dont have the guests i was talking with.
Oh, that may only include members. Not sure there's a way to get guest chats back after a week. Sorry!
i was thinking the same thing. sometimes my clients type their concerns in one sentence and they keep resending it that way and its hard to keep up. but it does make a ton of sense of why this is done. next time i will just notify my client that they need to send their messages in paragraph form instead of short sentences
I do face hard times remembering what all we disucssed, so i went to notes and tested that but than faced another issue. Member with whom i was chatting got his ID changed... and here i was clueless which notes to refer ;). Iunderstand all these are practical scenarios but one must get the option to retrieve previous history whenever required. Its very important for us to make sure we connect with members and don't irritate them with same questions every second day. Thoughts?
