Why are you become a listener?
It's fantastic how some listeners are short in listening, huge in judging, and long in giving advice. Haven't they heard that unsolicited advice is obnoxious?
Furthermore, forcing inappropriate playfulness when someone is clearly in a foul mood, is unacceptable.
If your member end up being the one who has to listen to you preaching and giving not needed advices and has to be patient when you try so hard to be funny, then my questions are: why are you being a listener? what are you trying to accomplish?
@vanillaapple I definitely feel your frustration as I have been on the side as a member needing a listener and unfortunately, facing the same roadblocks. What I can encourage you to do is report/review these listeners so they can be connected with someone to help them improvement or be removed if there's a call for it, depending on how bad it was. I feel a lot of people are scared of leaving bad reviews but all reviews help listeners grow!
