Uh Oh? Rant about bad listeners removed?
There was an interesting and rather well expressed rant about the listeners among us who seem not to understand what their job is about. I was interested in following what people said and now wonder why the whole thread was simply removed with no explanations.
I understand your concern and would like to assure you that we take all feedback seriously. We always strive to maintain a professional and respectful environment for all our users. While we encourage open and honest discussions, we also have guidelines in place to ensure that all conversations remain constructive and respectful.
In this particular case, the thread was removed because while it shared users' experiences with listeners, posting in the forums is not the appropriate way to go about sharing feedback about listeners. Members are always encouraged to use the feedback button in the chat windows to review their listening experience, email community@7cups.com, or utilize the Help Desk https://help.7cups.com/hc/en-us/requests/new to report any listeners that are not following guidelines We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused to you and the others who have responded in the removed thread and appreciate your understanding.
@CheeryMango
Many thanks for the explanation. I am so glad to have a serious response to this thread.
However, it keeps things rather opaque for most of us in the community. Individual concerns seem to be rather overlooked. I have many times tried to go through the channels such as community@7cups.com and only got canned, automatic replies with no follow-ups whatsoever. It might be that you do not have the staff to cover? Those of us listeners who have any experience and even some success in our common endeavour realize that we are bearing a lot more responsibility to make members heard when other - immature - listeners seem to be around for their own gratification.
I think it is about time that this underlying movement among the more serious listeners be responded to and more testing done, keeping in mind the various cultural sensitivities. Sorry about the religious aspect of this upcoming comment, but it is a pastoral "call" that many of us hear, when others are obviously feeding their egos from the distress of the members they happen to chat with.
I hope you understand that my comment is quite supportive of what 7cups is hoping to achieve and that I am not embittered here. This website is fantastic in so many ways, because it is international and can offer help to many who do not have any access to regular therapists.
@Fradiga id like to believe its because of the negativity. this is supposed to be a positive place for people to open up, and im sure the mods read everything and accordingly took this decision for the betterment of the platform. obviously they're all working very hard every day just to make this place as safe as possible, so i think we should all be grateful to them. every listener has been trained before the title was given to them. and lets not forget that listeners are humans too, they exhaust too. its not easy being there for so many people at once, especially if you have a little something going on as well. sure, you've had a bad experience. ignore them, the mods will take care of them. theres a lot of great listeners on this platform and they're doing just amazing. couldn't be any prouder of them.
@alksga
All true! Thank you very much for your thoughtful response. ❤️ Sometimes we have to make tough judgment calls, but we do so very carefully, taking into account the big picture, and for everyone's well-being. We really appreciate the patience and understanding of our community as we work together to maintain a healthy and constructive space to give and receive support.
