A day of new things...

I finally started with a new psych today who was super lovely. I'd made an internal deal with myself that I had to be open and honest to actually try and get something out of therapy this time around.

So I told her about my self harm, how and why, and what with. She sat there as calm as when I introduced my self and went through the usual 'are you feeling suicidal' with 4 consecutive and emphatically NOs she was ready to talk about the issues I presented.

I said I like control- well my anxiety likes control. But my depression likes to lay still, do nothing, and let the world build up, and move on around me. They fight in my already full head, but I cut and they both settle. Anxiety sees I've taken control, I a rather extreme way, but control nonetheless. Depression could feel the pain he was trying to express through aches and insomnia and was satiated by this.

Afterwards, I got some peace from my conflicting frenemies and finally did the groceries, fresh wounds rubbing on my jeans.

the psych took all this in, and instead of going to the unoriginal 'take a walk' 'talk to a friend' she talked about the ways to calm the conflict before if became the battle. And if the battle is about to start, how can we quell the fighters without taking it out on myself.

I can definitely see myself going to her again, and I'm so glad I found an empathetic pysch with original plans/ideas

Heya! Welcome! Im glad to have you join and Im also glad to hear about your day! It sounds like this psych is very understanding and listening as well as giving interesting ideas for you, its good that youre seeing yourself going to her again and that you made such a deal with yourself to be honest and open! I like the way you described saying you like control, it may be not the case for everyone but I totally understand what you mean as I feel the exact same way. Its really good that shes focusing with you on how to calm the battle before it starts, its something very interesting and worth focusing on. Weve got this saying here which could translate to better prevent than heal and well, I find that it applies a lot here, better prevent and try to make the battle as small and peaceful as possible than trying to deal with it when its raging full force. I wish you the best of luck on these things you are trying to fight, if you need to chat, to let things out or anything, Im here for you, we all are!

Take care heart

thankyou for the kind reply! I'm still working my way through the 7cups app layout, a touch overwhelming for a newcomer but once I get the hang of it I'm sure I'll be vetting listeners for some extra vent time.

control has always been my biggest motivator, and so when it's negatively geared it's hard to see the signs for myself, so I working on that as a bit of a self project right now. It's nice to know of someone else who experiences the same thing

peace and love ☮️☮️❤️❤️
