Is there a way to find a user you had a conversation with?

RachelZen January 7th, 2015

Good evening, everyone.

A few days back, I was chatting with someone who was in a lot of pain. We were really getting into the meat of the issues, when error messages started popping up - on both of our computers. We ended up getting disconnected.

I sent her a message, asking her to write back if she wanted to. Unfortunately, the next time I signed on, the entire conversation had completely disappeared.

Is there any way that I could find her again - just see how she's doing? I mean, I know she hasn't written back, but I'm a little concerned about her well-being. She was really down when we were chatting. If not, that's cool, but I figured it doesn't hurt to ask. :)

Hi, how can i got friends?

RachelZen OP January 8th, 2015

I don't know if this bumps posts up, but I'd still love to know if there's any way to find someone you have supported. Thanks!

I would love to know if there is anyway of doing this as well. I just helped a memberand the box disappeared completely, and it didn't show up under "my impact" either.

Hi@charmingSun18, @RachelZen!

Rachel, what sort of error message were you receiving? If you feel there might be a technical issue involved please mail support@7cups.com or use this form.

You may also go to 'My Impact' page and see the list of members under Recent Conversations list.

If you were chatting with a guest then their names would not appear on your 'My Impact' Page.

In case you were talking to a member and you cannot see their name then probably they have deactivated their account or blocked you.

The only conversation I had was say hello to the member, but all of a sudden the box vanished. I really hope it's just them blocking me, but should I still fill out a form?

@charmingSun18 they probably blocked you or were banned by some other listener. May be they were chatting with more listeners and may be one of them banned them. You don't have to fill the form.

Rachel, the thing you can do is to go onto the "My Impact" tab, and if you two have had 1 conversation (30+ Messages) then you should be able to find the name of that person, hopefully it'll jog your memory and confirm it was them.

As you said in your post, if the two of you were talking about some intense topics, the guest/member may have gotten overwhelmed and decided to delete the previous messages sent, or blocked you. There are a lot of possibilities that could have happened, but as apple74 suggested, best to fill out the form.

If you have chatted with a member, their name shows on your 'My Impact ' page irrespective of the number of messages exchanged.

She's not in the list of my conversations anymore. I would hate to think she had blocked me. Our conversation was going very well (or as well as could be expected - she was very suicidal and refused to call the help line; since I have been suicidal several times in my life, I felt like I could at least listen and let her feel heard).

The error message said something like- this user no longer exists - even though I was actually still chatting with her. She mentioned that if she disappeared, it would be because of the computer glitch, not because she "hung up" on me. Then a few exchanges later, she did disappear.

I remember her user name. That's why I wondered if there was any way to "find" her again. If not, I will just hope that she's doing better.

@RachelZen, I appreciate your care and concern for yourmember. However we are not professionals and hence we do not take up suicide related chats. Please refer such members/guests to www.suicide.org. You may send a mail to community@7cups.com to find out what may have happened. However it is better to talk to her once she is not feeling suicidal and support her on other issues.
