(Archived - New Link in Post) Prayers Request Thread!

Heather225 September 1st, 2023

Please visit this post to request prayers!

-
We all face moments of struggle and uncertainty at some point in our life journey. It can help to know that there are people out there thinking about you and rooting for you.

This thread is a dedicated space for prayer requests and support. Whether you're going through a personal crisis, facing health concerns, or other difficulties, you can ask for an empathetic ear, offer prayers, or just comforting words. If you'd like a specific kind of support, please do mention it with your share. You can say as much or as little as you like about your situation. (It can be as simple as "please pray for x", "please send me strength/blessings/vibes", "please keep me in your thoughts", "send beams" etc!)

For those who are willing, please consider extending your support to fellow members. Your compassion and words of encouragement can provide solace and strength to someone in need. Let's come together as a community to lift each other up in times of hardship.

Hi all, sorry for the delay on getting a new thread started here. A few weeks ago we maxed out the number of posts. You can find the old prayer request thread here: https://www.7cups.com/forum/religion/General_2605/PrayersRequestThread_329025/.

Let's please use this one as a continuation of the old one. I'll message a few folks too to let them know we've got it updated. Thank you for your patience 🙏

And I wanted to share a B I G  T H A N K you to all of you! You all might recall that my son struggled academically the first semester. It was a lot for him. High school was a 3 on a 1-10 (with 10 being challenging). College turned out to be an 8! And there were new social challenges too. I asked for prayer here, we made a plan, and he crushed it this last semester getting all A's. I'm super proud of him. Thank you all again for the support! 💗

@GlenM You're very welcomed. I am very proud of your son. I am glad he is doing better in school. I can relate somewhat to your son struggles in school. I have a learning disability and Gerstmann Syndrome. Back in 1991, this was before the internet age and wi-fi age. I was a freshman in high school. It was rough for me. A new school. New teachers. I had a hard time, getting used to things. In 1991, I had a severe breakdown. It was so bad, I was hospitalized for 8 weeks. I was evaluated, and was told I was suffering from depression. So I had another issue along with my learning disability and Gerstmann Syndrome to deal with. I also kept things that were bothering me, inside. I would not tell anyone. Which I learned in therapy was not good or healthy. So, in therapy I learned how to communicate my feelings and I also learned coping skills. I also, did not want to live. I was a mess, @GlenM. But, by God's Grace and the Spec Ed/Crisis Team, I got the right help. I started to communicate about my feelings. and if something was bothering me, I let someone know. I was in spec Ed all the way through school. So, I was in Spec Ed in high school, as well. I wanted to live. When I got out of the hospital, they added to my IEP. They add school social worker services to it. It was very helpful. I wish 7cups and the internet was around back then, maybe it would not have been so bad for me. In 1994, I graduated high school. My GPA, was 2.9. I graduated in the top 30 out of 130 students. I am from Michigan, in the United States of America, in case you are wondering. Now as an Adult, I help others. I do not drive. I am on disability. This site has been a blessing to me. I started out as a listener/leader back in 2019. I retired from the listener side back in 2022. I became a member back in 2020. Now I am a leader on the member side and loving it. So, if I can overcome challenges, I know your son can too. It just takes time and effort. I hope at some point to be a Mega Member here at 7cups. I love the member chatrooms, very much. In Oct of 2023, I got accepted into the Vibrant Emotional Care Provider Training Program, and passed, so now I am trained as an emotional care provider, with a background in psychological recovery and leadership. It was online. For those who do not know, Vibrant helps run the US Suicide Crisis Prevention Hotlines, they provide the funding for it. They are based out of New York. I am not sure, if you know this or not, Dr Dunnen (Spelling) is the director at SAMHSA"S Suicide Prevention Center. He was on one of the training videos I watched.

@Tinywhisper11 hahaha yes he does! we are going to climb a mountain together to talk and reflect on the journey he just had. the mountain is symbolic in the sense that it shows all he was able to overcome. and then we are going to get a nice dinner!

@GlenM

I love the symbolism. ✨ The moments spent with you will likely be moments that he will treasure for forever! It's beautiful that he isn't going alone. To climb the highest of peaks in life, it's best to not go alone.

*high fives* 😊 and *hugs* ❤️

It's so good that you noticed a need and early on. *high fives* 😊 Its great that you and he created action plans together, that you spent additional time to support him and his needs as well as coming to your community for support, encouragement and prayer! *hittin' it from all sides* Noice! Bam! 💥

Straight A's I see! Most impressive! I knew he could do it! (Some things we just know! 😊) "You've always had the power my dear, you just had to learn it for yourself" - Glenda from the Wizard of Oz.
