Faith When It Really Counts
Joshua and Caleb were the only two men over forty years old who were allowed to enter the Promised Land. After forty years in the wilderness, these men faced the monumental task of taking the land God had promised to the Israelites.
Their faith in God was an all-encompassing, as-if-their-lives-depended-on-it kind of faith. Why? Because their lives actually did depend on God's promises. If Joshua was lead Israel into the land. he would have to feel God's presence on a moment-by-moment basis and step out in faith, trusting that God would come through for him.
Joshua's job as the leader of Israel was to encourage the people to attack fortified cities in the face of overwhelming odds. Through forty years, his confidence in God's strong arm had not wavered. And God rewarded his faith Let Joshua's story of determined consistent belief encourage you today.
"Do not rebel against the Lord. And do not be afraid of the people of the land, because we will devour them. Their protection is gone, but the Lord is with us. Do not be afraid of them.."-Numbers 14:9

The Joy Of Relying On God
But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. Psalm 13:5
In light of the scripture above, begin by asking what you're trusting in or leaning on today. Are you joyful? Are you feeling fearful or frustrated? Your emotions and thoughts are helpful clues to what you think about God. They provide the evidence of a life of faith or a life attempting to get by on its own.
While following Jesus never assures you of smooth sailing, you're assured of God's presence based on His mercy for you. If you aren't joyful today and find yourself stuck in despair, it could be that you're trusting in yourself to earn God's mercy or simply relying on your own resources and wisdom to help yourself.
There is great contentment in trusting God's mercy and falling back on His help. You don't lean on God because you've earned His help or favor. Rather, you start with His mercy that assures you of His saving help and presence, whether you're going through good times or bad.
God, please encourage my heart. Help me to experience Your peace and joy now. Draw me close to You. I pray all this in the name of Jesus.

Cast Your Cares On God
Cast your Cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken. Psalm 55:22
This passage of scripture has been a source of great comfort to millions of believers, yet some people protest, "I wish it were that simple! When huge problems come, do I just calmly hand them to God and He takes care of everything?" This is a valid question.
Earlier in this psalm, David spoke of threats, of conspiracies, of battles raging against him, and the betrayal of friends, (This likely happened during the civil war when Absalom revolted.) David was able to cast his cares on God, but it wasn't a quick or easy process. At the same time, he had to lead his forces against the enemy.
Lord, it's me again. Once more, I hand my cares over to you. Help me! I'm in a desperate situation. I can't manage this problem on my own.

Heart Protection
How can a young person stay pure? By obeying your word...I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. Psalm 119:9, 11
Gloves protect your hands. Shoes protect your feet. Safety goggles protect your eyes. What protects your heart?
Hearts are where spiritual decisions are made. The heart remains unprotected when you don't know which rules to follow.
Accurate spiritual decisions can't be made when you have no idea what God has to say about important life issues.
When you argue that you have no time to read God's Word, you shouldn't be surprised when you break His law. Consuming God's Word is essential in learning how to live a godly life. Your decisions can't be made simply because you feel like it, or because the majority of people you talk to believe you should do something.
The integrity of your heart and the decisions it makes will always be based on your willingness to consult God's Word and obey it.
God, protect my heart from evil. And help me not to let anything into my heart that would corrupt me. Remind me to take time to soak in Your Word.

The Source of Temptation
When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each person is tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. James 1:13-14
The Bible teaches that temptation comes from basically three sources: from the devil (Adam and Eve sinned when they gave in to his temptation; also, the devil tempted Jesus Himself), from the world and from our own evil, fallen hearts.
3-Minute Devotions for Men
I used to be normal and work a full time job and be a productive member of society but I was injured in an accident. I'm living in a group home and the living conditions are terrible. I'm very worried and stressed everyday. Last year I decided I wanted to move out by May 30th but I didn't even come close to that. I wanted to start a job training program October 12th this year but I'm not even close to making it. My environment is making me worse. I'm a very talented and smart person and I'm wasting my life away doing absolutely nothing. I'm feeling very discouraged and very frustrated. I used to have a lot of friends but they gave up on me a long time ago.
@Regmo
Friend Regmo.
I'll pray for you and your situation today. Here is a psalm from the Bible for
you from the good shepherd, Jesus Christ: Psalm 23: "The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside
the still waters.3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.5 Thou
preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my
head with oil; my cup runneth over.6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
@Regmo Dear God, please be with Regmo. They are struggling right now. They need your touch right now. Dear God, be their source of strength and hope. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen and Amen.

How awesome is that. The blood of Jesus Christ, covering us so we can live in peace.
The Heart Of Forgiveness
Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. -Colossians 3:13
The heart has long been the metaphor for the deepest parts of a man's emotions and thoughts. In addition to the Hebrews, the ancients Greeks credited the heart as being the seat of a person's thoughts, and therefore his actions.
Today you can extend that metaphor with what is known from science. The heart is essentially a pump to every point of the body. Without this pumping of oxygen, the body dies. The Bible therefore declares "the blood is the life" of all flesh. (Deuteronomy 12:23)
Importantly, the point of a pump isn't to receive something, but to push it along. The heart wouldn't be functioning according to its design if it kept freshly oxygenated blood to itself. In the same way, if you receive forgiveness from the Lord without pushing to its design. A healthy Christian heart bears with the shortcomings and offenses of others.
Lord, help me to be tenderhearted and forgiving, as You are. You have forgiven me for so much. May I forgive others freely as well.

If I were to pray for anything, it would be that my country does not fall to the enemies within it...
It will fall or fade away one day, of course. But hopefully not soon & please, not while I'm still alive & the newest generations still haven't reached adulthood.
