new hellenic
hi! im just starting to work/ worship Artemis and Apollo and was wondering if anyone could give me some tips to start? ive made an alter and put some crystals and candles but im not sure on other ways i can work with them.
@TaylorTheFrog I am not famliiar with Greek worship of their gods, but you may find something here https://www.metmuseum.org/toah/hd/grlg/hd_grlg.htm
What led you to worship Greek gods?
@soulsings
i was raised catholic but never really believed in it . Percy Jackson is what open the world of Greek mythology to me and I began to do my own research and had started say stuff like “Zeus seems to be in a bad mood” when it was a thunder storm or “hi Apollo!” Whenever I’d see the sun and I eventually learned about paganism and came to the understanding that I believed these gods existed and I wanted to begin worshipping them!
@TaylorTheFrog the Native American people also felt a close affinity with nature.
You say you want to worship them. I am not sure how one would do that or how that might benefit you. It seems to give human traits to nature or super human status.
Good luck in your practice. We never know what we practice today may lead to tomorrow as our inner vision increases.
@TaylorTheFrog Hello, I have been a practicing Hellenic Pagan for +10 years, if you have questions I am willing to help. I can even recommend a *** server where myself and others help out others who are practicing. It’s for +18 members however there is a different server for younger members.
When you first start out, just focus on researching, and getting to know them. You build a relationship by just reaching out with prayer or offerings of things they like, and you in turn tell them about yourself. Think of them like friends or an extended family looking out for you.
https://www.theoi.com/ Has some really nice resources for you, and you can actually find quite a bit of information on tumblr from many dedicated pagan blogs.
@ChangelingChild
thank you so much! And I am interested it the server but I would need the other one since I’m still a minor. I have been talking and lighting their candles whenever I can and have added some drawings of their sacred trees to their alter. Again thank you so much!
@ChangelingChild
This is a great response, and I think you're absolutely right! Researching is the first step to getting to know a deity better in terms of their preferences and the way they relate to humankind. Prayer and offerings are a wonderful way to connect, and I like the idea of regarding them as friends or extended family, depending on their spiritual disposition.
I would love to see a server with a focus on pagan practices with the hope that it wouldn't become a target for people with differing religious beliefs.
