Handling rejection

The man I've been seeing cancels on me sometimes and I feel rejected because his teen daughter wants to hang with him at the last minute I'm happy he has that relationship with his kids but I feel rejected and I shouldn't because our kids come first and I respect him for his decisions concerning his kids. I cancel on him sometimes concerning my kids as well. I don't invite him to family stuff yet because we haven't reached that milestone yet. He lives 45 minutes away so it feels long distance we've been seeing each other for over 8 months and I like the pace but feeling rejected sucks

I think feeling rejected sucks but when it is hard to schedule because distance and timing and then it get canceled it just seems more personal .  this IMO happens when people with kids and families are trying to meet and get to really solidify a relationship before inviting their gf/ bf to do things with kids / family also.

It is tough to try to compartmentalize our lives.
