Facing separation and divorce with small kids involved
I am ending a 12 year relationship and we have 2 kids under 10. I am emotionally and mentally ready to move on but I worry about my kids. He has had a child with another woman during our relationship and it has been a strain in many ways on our relationship. He is very emotionally unavailable and I feel like I do it all on my own but he and his family make me feel bad for wanting to move on and say that I am abandoning him and our family. I just want my leave back!

so he stepped out of marriage and had a child with someone else but you are ruining the family ....did they keep a straight face telling you that ?
You are forever tied to him sharing children but leaving and being a positive role model to not be treated like that is a good lesson for kids

He abandoned the family when he chose to step outside his commitment to you & his kids. Of course his selfish behavior seems acceptable to his family. Maybe that’s where he learned this behavior was ok?!!
My mom faced a similar situation and she raised 4 of us alone….zero support from him. And honestly that was the greatest gift she could provide us — being a role model for self-respect and resilience. i thank her everyday for choosing to raise us in a home where trust, commitment and integrity was valued.
