Complications

There's this guy I've known for 6 years and we like each other but recently he cut off all his social media and texting and basically any contact with everybody including me so that he could study. He said it'll be months before he talks to me again. I miss him dearly especially since I feel like I'm in a darker place and I need somebody to talk to but then I also feel like I'm wasting my time and teenage years over a guy I don't even talk to. I can't just get with another guy because I don't want to break his heart and there's nobody else I like anyways. What do I do?
