Every relationship is a choice you make. An informed, well thought out choice. But to continue seeing it as a choice you made and not giving it the same privileges that you give a bond by blood could put it on a weaker space. This is just my humble way of thinking.

Well, a romantic relationship in those cases is typically by choice, so you are able to make the choice if you wish to break up with them. However, your relationship with your parents is by chance and you typically cannot change who your caregiver is, nor who your parents are. Even if you do change who your caregiver is through a legal process, your birth parents will always remain to be your parents genuinely

@Emily619 Yes thats completely sensible while speaking logically. What I meant to say is that, after making a well thought out choice, if you try not to see any relationship as a choice you made - it probably help you see it in a different light altogether. Its just my way- and works for me, may not necessarily for everyone.
