A Ode to My Boots

My boots

I had them since middle school

Never broke, always comfortable

Mom never like 'em

I liked them,

But she doesn't care

Today she got rid of something she hated,

But today I lose a friend

I wore to church, to school and anywhere I went

From the dead of winter to spring into dog days to cool autumn

We were together

Goodbye Old Friend, into the unknown you go,

I tried to save you from being thrifted,

But I couldn't
