@rainyLight38 Yayy, lovely question and I'm happy to share some of the books that I love:

1. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, by Douglas Adams - It's a humorous, smart sci-fi that helped me get back into reading. I'm always impressed by the absurdly comical, yet witty situations and lines that he comes up with. Here's a few -
"The ships hung in the sky in much the same way that bricks don't."
"The story so far: In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."
"Nothing travels faster than the speed of light with the possible exception of bad news, which obeys its own special laws.”

2. Emotional: The New Thinking about Feelings, by Leonard Mlonidow - An amazing compilation of scientific references intertwined with his personal story and peer-reviewed questionnaires that has helped me come out of the darkness in my life. I'm greatly indebted to this book for giving me hope and satisfying my scientific curiosity about the mind and emotions. It helps us break out of the social paradigm that considers emotions as irrational or unimportant by establishing how our emotional system actually is like a great compass for our life decisions.

3. Tao Te Ching, by Lao Tzu - This is one of my most favourite books. I can only say that it's profound simplicity packed in a small volume, and it's as relevant today as it was back then in ~400 BC. Time to time, I return to this treasure for guidance and I understand something new.

4. The Curious Incident of the Dog at the Night Time, by Mark Haddon - A unique book, sent by my cute friend on my birthday. This book is written from the perspective of a child who views the world very differently than us, due to his special condition like autism/asperger's. It really goes to show that as a society we have built one mould and expect everyone to act according to that, but we can have such wonderful and neurologically diverse perspectives of the same things we see around us if we don't force conformity. This book inspires me to be me and to be curious about things. Many of the struggles faced by the main character also shaped my life, and I really really wanna recommend this book to everyone.

5. Cosmos, by Carl Sagan - This book is just the secrets of the universe presenting themselves as poetry. I think about it and my heart gets filled with gratitude for Dr. Carl Sagan and Dr. Ann Druyan for writing...no.. composing... this piece of art. I really wish everyone reads this once in life, or watched the TV series. As he points out, we are "citizens of the Cosmos" or "Cosmopolitan".... and that is very lovely to me as it inspires me to view all life, and the entire universe as my family.

So... what are yours? 😄
