Book recommendations
Hi does anyone have names of books that have mental health struggles in them, and / or YA novels
@AdventureCode345
The Midnight Library by Matt Haig is a beautiful one. It touches on some very deep topics with the main character starting with bad depression, so just wanted to give you a heads up.
@SammyLouise
I LOVE Matt Haig! I read Notes on a Nervous Planet. He’s an amazing author!! I’m gonna read the midnight library it sounds AWESOME!!
@AdventureCode345
Me too! Apart from The Midnight Library, my favourite is How to Stop Time if you haven't read that one! I'd highly recommend it!
@SammyLouise
i haven’t im gonna add it to my reading list!
@AdventureCode345
1. All the Bright Places
2. Speak
3. My Heart and Other Black Holes
4. WinterGirls
5. 13 Reasons Why
6. Impulse
These are some of my favourites!
I just looked at most of them and I’m so excited to read them!!! Ellen Hopkins is the best author like EVER. I read speak and the second one they where stunning! I read holding up the universe by the author of all the bright places (I think) but I’m actually rlly excited I’m gonna read them soon!!!
If you like graphic novels, @AdventureCode345, I highly recommend Hyperbole and a Half by Allie Brosh. It's an honest, and at times refreshingly light hearted, representation of someone who has bipolar disorder and struggles with periods of depression.
i have a short list!
- my heart and other black holes
- every last word
- forgive me leonard peacock
- turtles all the way down
my personal favorite is forgive me leonard peacock (pls look up trigger warning if you want to read) it’s about a guy who’s planning to commit s****, the book is sad but also has a good sense of humor. the mc isn’t the most likeable but i think it’s the most realistic out of all of this
