7 Cups Birthday Celebration: Accountability
Hello hello hello and welcome back to 7 Cups’s 10th birthday celebration! As we celebrate 10 years of a supportive, wonderful community, we want to highlight accountability, one of the core values that help 7 Cups grow and thrive.
Accountability can be defined as taking responsibility for one’s actions and duties. It encompasses meeting deadlines, completing tasks, and monitoring one’s workload and progress. Each individual is accountable not only to themselves, but to the people around them. Being accountable involves admitting mistakes, being proactive, and finding solutions.
Accountability is important as it allows individuals to gain clear understandings of their responsibilities, boundaries, and areas where support can be beneficial. Accountability also demonstrates trust and integrity, two vital aspects to relationships.
SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-Bound) Goals are very helpful in maintaining accountability as these types of goals promote accountability by allowing you to set clear expectations for yourself. Having a clear, attainable goal with a deadline can be very advantageous in motivating individuals to fulfill their responsibilities. For example, let's say that I want to be more active in the forums. A SMART goal I could use in order to help me achieve this could be "In the month of July, every week I will choose a sub-community and create two discussion posts in in it."
At 7 Cups, both listeners and members are held accountable to themselves and the community. The 7 Cups community guidelines are one aspect that encourages accountability from each user.
All leaders on 7 Cups are accountable to their respective mentor leaders, ambassadors, and admins, of course, to the community as a whole. Furthermore, they are encouraged to create and keep track of SMART goals in order to monitor progress and accountability. This focus on accountability at 7 cups helps build trust and confidence in the community while fostering a culture of responsibility.
Now, I invite you all to answer the following questions.
1) What is one SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time-bound) goal you would like to set for yourself. This can be 7 cups related or personal.
2) How can you balance holding yourself accountable with practicing self kindness and forgiveness?
Thank you for taking the time to celebrate with us today! As always, we are so happy that you are a part of this community.
@hopedreamlove Thank you for bringing this up, Hope! ✨️ This value builds trust, including with ourselves. We rely on ourselves a lot.
Yet, it is not always comfortable to acknowledge accountability, perhaps because it's not always easy to do so hehe...Let's try...
- Example of a personal goal: walk minimum 30 mins everyday.
- I'll set alarm at the times I usually have free time 3x a day. Everyday I'll mark ✔️ on my desk calendar when I succeed. If I fail, I will acknowledge my efforts and self-review why I fail to walk that day. Tap on my own shoulder for self-compassion and try again the next day. I'll not let my mind go to black and white thinking pattern.
