You, My Friend

discreetMelon4020 April 8th, 2023

You take these tears in stride

They stain my face in thick lines

Like a canyon spanning across a land

Filled with imperfections

You delivered me from the depths of my sorrow and loathing, turned against myself

It brushes its fingertips into the crevice of my consciousness

Feather-light into crushing

Your goodness is like hero’s sword

The light reflects off its silver blade

Bathing me in a soft glow, scaring off my foe

It’s still there, do not be deceived

It’s always there, just at the edge of the forest

It never left

Because even in the brightest light, shadows still remain

But in your presence it dares not to come near

That’s enough for now
