Where do poems come from?
Where do poems come from?
Do the pour from skies above?
Where with every little drizzle
They teach of unbound love.
Do they creep on the roads here
As they struggle to stand ?
But every distance they seem to cover
Brightens a new piece of land.
Do they seep from crevices,
From cracks over-looked and shunned?
Did they grow from the pain of plight,
With those who were beaten and gunned?!
Do they sprout from little seeds,
Who seem to barely live on ?
Since they teach bravery to the distraught,
For the life keeps moving on.
Or perhaps they were always born,
Amongst brains- messy and strange?
For they seem to show the beauty,
That grows with each page!

That was beautiful! The way your poem runs through the gamut of human experience as possible sources of poetic inspiration was artfully done. The steady rhyme scheme really enhanced the melodic feel of the piece. I also really like how each stanza was self contained, showing both positivity as well as adversity. It really gave the feeling of looking under every rock for the elusive muse as we seek meaning and reason. An excellent poem, it really resonated with me.
(And it was very touching that you felt I inspired anything about your creation. It was very sweet of you to give that sort of shout-out *Bows humbly to you*)
@wIthpeACE The line "From cracks over-looked and shunned" is such a powerful reminder that poetry can emerge from the most overlooked places, often born from pain or hardship, yet still carry something beautiful and transformative. The idea of poems sprouting like seeds that teach bravery adds such an organic, resilient feel to the piece. You've captured how poetry grows and heals in such a unique way! I’m also not sure where poetry truly comes from, but I know this one definitely came from the heart. It’s amazing how Knight’s work has inspired you to create something so moving!
