Chaotic Flight?

When night falls and the shooting stars

Steal the lights of the sky,

What do you do then?

Do you rise and fly?

When a fiery storm holds you,

And a hellish rain reigns,

Do you stop when your wings are singed?

Do you quieten the blood in your veins?

@ListeningRoses56 oops. Ignore the question mark in the title.

A curious piece indeed. It felt as if it was intended rhetorically. The themes of darkness and heat sound as if they are intended as metaphors for strong emotions, and It certainly draws on imagery which is reminiscent of an angelic fall. I liked the double queries that close each stanza, as it moves from observational to questioning. And the end itself leaves us unsatisfied, as if we have been shown a tantalising glimpse of something that very well may not have a definitive answer.

Very interesting.

@BastionKnight thank you! I enjoy reading your analysis. There was another stanza but it portrayed an even more disturbed state of mind and sounded even more confused but I removed it because it made no sense 😅

Ah, such a shame we did not get to see the missing stanza. But I think the piece works as it is. Looking forward to seeing more from you in the future.

@ListeningRoses56 Beautiful poem. I love the imagery and the rhetorical questions at the end. I also agree with BastianKnight – the poem works as it is; the imagery comes full circle.
