A Heart's Lament

O you whose love has both exalted and humbled me,
How can I find the way to reach you? Guide me.
You are the one who made me swear and swore to me,
Swore you’d never betray me, yet you betrayed me.
Swore you’d never waver or yield to desire,
Where is the oath? Where is the promise you gave me?
You left me lost, bewildered, a wandering lover,
Counting the stars while you live in comfort and ease,
I shall sit by the road and voice my complaint,
Cry out, "I am wronged, and you have wronged me!",
I shall call upon the night in its darkest hours,
Praying that God afflicts you as you’ve afflicted me,
O you whose love has both exalted and humbled me,
How can I find the way to reach you? Guide me,
You are the one who made me swear and swore to me,
Swore you’d never betray me, yet you betrayed me.

@aurastorm This is a beautifully poignant lament, filled with the ache of betrayal and longing. The repetition of - "Swore you’d never betray me, yet you betrayed me." intensifies the heartbreak, as if the speaker is caught in an endless cycle of disbelief and sorrow. I love how the imagery shifts between exaltation and despair—"Counting the stars while you live in comfort and ease" - is striking, contrasting the speaker’s suffering with the beloved’s indifference. A deeply moving and elegantly woven expression of love’s most painful contradictions.
