How Can I Be a Better Ally?
I am caucasion, and so I do not face the racism and discrimination many people deal with every day. However, I often hear stories from my friends or in the news about racism. Besides being someone who will listen, what can I do to be an ally for people of color? How can I help support people who might face racism? Thanks!

omg thank you so much for asking this question! it's awesome to see people trying to do something to combat racism :)
i'm not quite sure how you could help exactly other than supporting them and listening. perhaps speaking out against it would help, although i don't really know how you could prevent others from hurting you by doing so. perhaps you could get the people near you to accept them, the ones that your words have some sort of control over? if you get what i mean XD
i found some links that may help you, though. they can be found here [one, two, three, four, and five]. i'm sorry i wasn't able to help more, but good luck!
@windflowers Thank you so much for the advice and those links. I will take care to read them all. I try to call out my friends/family that might say any racist comments, but I want to do more to speak out against it.

Thank you for starting this thread. I think one of the best things that can be done is starting conversations like this on forums. I also think participating in support chats helps everyone understand and have the courage to speak about the challenges that people of color and those who support people of color face. Sometimes just letting people to know that they are being supported is always helpful and being willing to listen and know that you may not always understand. I think its great that there are people in this world who want to support everyone no matter their race or ethnicity.
Kudos to you both

omg yes i agree! thank you for your input. i wasn't the one who started this thread, though -- i believe you have @andonymousse to thank for that! nevertheless, your input was really refreshing and i agree with what you said; thank you for sharing :)
Lead by example! It's an easy way to give your support on an everyday basis. Beyond that, stand up for people that are marginalized, and discuss your views with other people. This could mean talking to the person you know is being left out, speaking up when anything is off, or even attending rallies if you feel comfortable with it. As always, stay safe, and thank you for your support!
