Check On Your Strong Friends
Hello my lovely YPOC community!! I was having a conversation with someone the other day about this, and I was inspired to bring this idea to all of you! Today let's talk about checking in on the strong people in our lives!
There are people who seem to have it all together and who are always there to be your rock when you need it, but what if they need support too? Here are some tips for handling this:
1. Be Present
Take time to sit with your friend and let them share how they are feeling
2. Don’t diminish their feelings
If your friend has decided to open up to you about their feelings, don’t diminish them. Saying phrases as simple as “Oh you’ll be alright,” or “That’s not that bad” can shut someone down and invalidate their experience
3. Check In
Your strong friend is always checking on everyone. It takes a small amount of time to send them a quick message to check in to see how they are doing

Awesome post! I related so much reading this and I think there's so many useful takeaways I got from reading this thread.
Thanks for this post. It is a great reminder that it is important to be intentional about reaching out, especially with friends who are more likely to do the supporting than to be supported. They may not even want to always be cast in the role of helper; some people do this naturally, and friends assume that they do not need anything. I can think of a friend who is often in that role. I will reach out to her today :)
Ask how they’re feeling.
