What are some of your positives?
I feel like if we are told to find the negatives or the cons of a situation, we can write an endless list. There seem to be countless thongs wrong in almost every situation.
The same seems to apply to being a person of color: my unruly hair makes me look like Einstein, my upper lip hairs make me look like I'm trying to grow a mustache, and people seem to give me weird looks wherever I seem to go.
But what about the positives? My skin shines in the sun, my body hairs keep me warm in the icy winters, and I stand out in comparison to others.
Yes, I am different because of my ethnicity/race, but that is part of what makes me unique. If I were to look like everybody else, then there would be no difference between me and the next person.
So I am proud of both my negatives and positives. I am proud of my unruly hair, the attention I seem to be able to attract, the way my skin shines in the sun, and many other characteristics that come with being a person of color.
What are some positives that come with being a person of color that make you proud?

This is sooo awe-inspiring, Calling. Yussss, gotta embrace the beautiful *you* and be proud too!💛
Sun definitely makes the skin shine so much hehe! The golden hour glow!🤩
@Sunisshiningandsoareyou
Thank you! 😊 The golden hour glow 🌅 is THE best lighting! 🤩

Agreed!🥰

For me it has to be the culture! While family gatherings can be hectic and chaotic, there's also that built in community you have as well that's hard to find anywhere else; and I absolutely adore having customs and foods and celebrations that are unique to us!
@nestlecrunch
Culture has to be one of the best responses! Although the gatherings can get hectic 😅, there's also that comfort of knowing that if you ever need anything, there is a community full of people there to help you 🥰. And there is so much delicious cultural food out there😋🍲! I can't seem to pick my favorite!
@Calling123
I can't seem to choose my favorite food either! Food has definitely got to be my favorite part, it's always so incredible 😭
@Calling123 I'm not sure exactly what you mean by person of colour? Forgive my ignorance, but isn't everyone a coulour?? *pulls confused face* but anyway my colour is white. I look different from others too. Trigger warning disabilities.... I'm a double amputee, also missing some fingers, and lots of scars. Sometimes I feel as though I'm a freak, but other times I like my freakiness, cause I can't be anything else. Just like you, sometimes I'm glad I stand out ❤❤
@Tinywhisper11
Hi there! We welcome all skin tones🫶! I had originally put this out as a form of encouragement to my fellow black and brown people to embrace their uniqueness, but your response gave me a different perspective on the question😯. I hadn't thought about how this could also be applicable to people with disabilities. You stand out for your strength💪. Despite everything that happened to you, you are still here. Still present with your strength💜. I'm glad to have someone as strong as you as a part of this community😊💙!
~Much love 💛
