Days may seem to pass by in a blur, but take a moment to take a deep breath 😮‍💨, make yourself a cup of tea or coffee 🍵, and do that task you have been putting off for a while 💪.  The days will keep passing by in a blur, but make that extra effort and make this week different than the others. Whether it be getting a manicure 💅, cleaning the backyard 🍂, or building that bookshelf 📚, take a moment and do it. Make this week the week you mark that task off the checklist ✅.

...See more I feel like if we are told to find the negatives or the cons of a situation, we can write an endless list. There seem to be countless thongs wrong in almost every situation. The same seems to apply to being a person of color: my unruly hair makes me look like Einstein, my upper lip hairs make me look like I'm trying to grow a mustache, and people seem to give me weird looks wherever I seem to go. But what about the positives? My skin shines in the sun, my body hairs keep me warm in the icy winters, and I stand out in comparison to others.  Yes, I am different because of my ethnicity/race, but that is part of what makes me unique. If I were to look like everybody else, then there would be no difference between me and the next person. So I am proud of both my negatives and positives. I am proud of my unruly hair, the attention I seem to be able to attract, the way my skin shines in the sun, and many other characteristics that come with being a person of color. What are some positives that come with being a person of color that make you proud?

Welcome to Young People of Color! This community is supported by The Steve Fund, the nation's only non-profit focused on working with students, colleges, and nonprofit organizations to promote the emotional well-being and mental health of young people of color. During their late teens and twenties, young people of color may face challenges related to their mental health and emotional well-being that they need to cope with. That's what Young People of Color at 7Cups is all about! It’s a place to come and be heard, to find and give support.
