Emotional relapse

This is so tmi but I just started birth control for the first time in my life and my emotions are all over the place. I had JUST learned how to manage my condition (BPD) but thanks to this new medication I have taken so many steps back. I’m erratic, overly sensitive and worst of all, self destructive. I hate feeling like a teen who’s out of control 24/7 again. I feel helpless. Even my insomnia decided to make a comeback. I can’t control myself and I have been rotting in bed for over a month despite the multiple attempts to do something with my life. I hope I get out of this situation soon

Hi, sorry that's happening. 🙁 Sounds like things were just stabilizing and going well (that's awesome and couldn't have been easy getting to that point 💜). But then suddenly after adding birth control it's like all of that progress got reversed.

I wonder whether it would make sense to try speaking to a health care provider about this? I did some quick research and it looks like there are multiple types of birth control that each have their own blend of hormones, and it might be that one type will cause mood issues while another one won't. Maybe you can switch to a different type that doesn't affect you as badly.
