Dear Mindfulness Buddies,

For today's check-in, here are some prompt questions for everyone! :)

1. How are you feeling today?

2. Give one thing that stresses you out lately?

3. How do you cope with it?

4. Do you have any difficulty grounding yourself and applying mindfulness exercises?

-----

Lately, I think I have not been grounding myself in the best way possible. Work is a stressful thing in my life right now but I wonder, is there a job that is not toxic nor too overwhelming for all of us? Now, this is a thought to ponder for me. But, I am getting back on track and recovering again from a very stressful week. What about you? Hope to hear your responses to our check-in prompts!

Love lots! <3

Here's a cake for you all cause it is my birthday! 🎂

Hi @Shamyo !

How are you feeling now? Do you feel much better lately? I understand that sometimes are urges make life very difficult for us. If you want to talk to anyone, 7cups listeners are always here. Otherwise, based on studying self-harm and the likes, most of our urges come from another issue that we are not ready to face. Self-harming is a coping mechanism and an unhealthy one. If you wish to talk, I can lend you an ear and we can discuss what it is really that makes you feel angry or sad or frustrated; whatever it is that triggers this urge.

Distraction is a good coping strategy to remove you from the thought itself but it is a temporary fix. I hope you can get the needed help from an experienced counselor, therapist, or psychologist. Hugs! I wish you more better days, dear. 💜

  1. I’ve been feeling a lil anxious
  2. I'm stressing about a presentation later this week
  3. Not really coping, been meditating daily for few minutes and talking to friends. Not sure if that’s coping.
  4. yeah I’ve just been kinda all over the place. But I’ve been doing short meditations everyday for more than 3 months now, which is quite a feat.

Hello @energeticWest1129 !

Naww how's the presentation so far? Feeling anxious about a big event is natural. Anxiety and excitement give us the same type of energy. This is why good stress is healthy for us to keep growing. I hope you have some grounding strategies to not let your anxiety paralyze you and not accomplish this task.

Meditation is a tool to ground ourselves which is an important skill to learn when we feel anxious. Talking to friends is an avenue to relieve ourselves from some of our thoughts and to give us comfort. But you mentioned you are not really coping so there might be some more grounding mechanisms that you might need to further help you ground yourself. Mindfulness is a very good tool for this one too. Being present in the moment and not thinking of the past or the future can help you focus more on the task at hand. Anxiety is deeply rooted in thoughts about the past and the future, especially future possibilities of failing etc. If you can let go of these worries and just focus on whatever you are doing now, you can redirect the anxious energy to fuel more productivity.

Anywho, congratulations on your 3rd month of meditation! Good job! 💜

@crang17

Happy Birthday!
🎉🎂🐣

1. How are you feeling today?

- Okay.

2. Give one thing that stresses you out lately?

- Not doing all the things I need to do, so there's a growing heap of stuff that waits for me... and some historic family matters...

3. How do you cope with it?

- I make plans (and skip them, lol), and I talk with a listener here.

4. Do you have any difficulty grounding yourself and applying mindfulness exercises?

- I'm not sure when I would need them - or rather, I think of them only at the times when I wouldn't need them...

@crang17

A belated Happy Birthday ❤️

I'm so glad you're doing better, hugs.

1. How are you feeling today? I feel good about myself and are proud of the new self care routines I do.

2. Give one thing that stresses you out lately? Car broke down, so no transport and well neither sure if there is a way to repair it. The required part is not available anywhere right now (includes import)

3. How do you cope with it? I've tried my best to get the part, so now it's about acceptance.

4. Do you have any difficulty grounding yourself and applying mindfulness exercises? Usually grounding works very well for me.
