Closed trans in need of advice here

I've been starting to make some money and I can finally think about moving out of my family's house and having top surgery. I've been wanting this surgery since I was 11, but I'm having lots of doubts now. For starters, I'm 100% in the closet. I think there is a friend or two I could come out to seek support, bit I'm not sure what to tell the rest, of my family or the matter. As to now, I've planned to get this surgery and just not tell people, or at least for a while. Since I dress pretty baggy, I don't think they will notice, but at the same time, I'm dying to live more authentically.

Any insights from older trans folks?
