Hello Leadership Crew!

I have just gone through the introduction thread and read about all of you. If you havent yet introduced yourself, then please stop by and share a little about yourself so we can get to know you. Im encouraged by all the great people that have joined. This should be a fun and enriching program!

Let me first zoom back and talk more broadly about your career and how we can help. When you become a leader on 7 Cups, we want you to find the work fulfilling. Fulfilling work means that it is:

a) work you are good at;
b) work that is interesting to you; and
c) work that solves an important problem or meets an important goal (Thiel, 2015).

The sweet spot is that blue area in the middle below.

Work Alignment Diagram

If you do work that you are good at, but not interested in, then you wont do a great job. If you do work that you are interested in, but not particularly good at, then it wont be great work. If you do work that you are good at and interested in, but it isnt helping to solve an important problem, then we wont be a good fit for you. We need alignment on all 3 things. We work very hard at the beginning of your work with us to match your inherent strengths and interests with needs we have so that we can work together to solve problems that we all care about.

You have strengths â things that you are just really good at when compared with others. Operating out of your strengths feels good, is personally fulfilling, and enables you to hit flow states. As a result, you are much more effective and productive. Operating out of weaknesses is a drain. If you have to do work that you are not good at, then you wont be as effective. Doubling down on your strengths enables you to level up much faster and it helps 7 Cups make much more progress. Â

The next step becomes helping you find ways to identify your strengths, gifts or natural talents. You can learn some of this through self-observation - what do you seem especially good at? Are there things that just come natural to you that are more challenging for others? My wife, for example, is really good at writing; it just comes natural to her. Im pretty good at public speaking, whereas others find it more challenging.

Another way is to ask people you trust. You can say: What do you think Im good at? Or: what do you think are my top 1-3 strengths? Things that stand out to you about me? Note: only ask people you trust because sometimes people can give you feedback in a harmful rather than helpful way especially if they are not trustworthy.

For the purposes of this course, we are going to use personality tests to help you identify your strengths. Some of these are better than others; they are more reliable and have more research behind them. Broadly, we are using them here to help you begin to map out your strengths and to help you find ways where you can naturally excel here on 7 Cups, in your personal life, and in whatever career your are in or choose further down the road.

To start:

Go to this site here and take the test: https://www.16personalities.com/free-personality-test

Next, in the thread below, answer the following questions:

1. What is your personality type? Include your 4 letters please Â

2. What were the main things you learned about yourself?

3. What are your top 3 strengths or gifts according to this test? Please describe them.

Last, when people interact with one another, it makes the course more enriching and it allows us to learn more about one another. In addition to posting in the thread, please also be sure to respond in a helpful and positive way to at least 3 other comments in this thread.

You can also ask any questions in this thread and well respond to them as well.

Very excited to kick this off with all of you!

After fulfilling the requirements of this post, please check out the next post here! You must take part in the brainstorming/activities given in all of these posts to successfully complete the program.

@GlenM

I really love these kind of tests for sure.

1. My personality type is INTJ . wohoo!

2. An Architect (INTJ) is a person with the Introverted, Intuitive, Thinking, and Judging personality traits. These thoughtful tacticians love perfecting the details of life, applying creativity and rationality to everything we do. our inner world is often a private, complex one.

3. we pride ourselves on the power of our minds. we can reframe nearly any challenge as an opportunity to hone our rational thinking skills and expand our knowledge.

conformity is more or less synonymous with mediocrity. Creative and self-motivated, we strive to do things our own way.

we are open to new ideas – as long as those ideas are rational and evidence-based, that is.

My personality type is ENTJ1

This test helped me think about my perspective on various subjects and how strong opinions I form on various subjects. After further inspecting the results of this test I realized that some of the traits did match with my own such as being receptive.

Three gifts I have according to the test were Receptive, reliable, passionate

Receptive: having strong opinions yet not being closed minded about them and being open to people having their own opinions.

Reliable: they don't let down people and try to fulfil their promises even when it might be tough

Passionate: they always have different interests to persure and various things that they strive to accomplish

Hi there @Xtrem3 :)

Your 3 gifts/strengths are very crucial to being a Leader. Reliability is a huge one, and the passion shows your sincerity. As mentioned in the last course, if we don't enjoy what we're doing we won't do our best. Receptivity is also very important as a Leader because you're responsible for so many different people and perspectives. You definitely have what it takes!

@Xtrem3 I love that people with this type are so passionate, thanks for the thoughtful answer

1.) What is your personality type? Include your 4 letters please Â

INTJ-A

2.) What were the main things you learned about yourself?

- I love to perfect the details of life.

- I apply creativity and rationality to everything I do.

- My inner world is often a private, complex world.

3.) What are your top 3 strengths or gifts according to this test? Please describe them.

1.) Rational - We pride ourselves on the power of our mind. We view almost every challenge as an opportunity to sharpen our rational thinking and expand our knowledge - and with this mindset, we can find inventive solutions to even the most difficult problems.

2.) Informed - Few personality types are as concerned with developing rational, correct, and evidence-based opinions as INTJs. We base our conclusions on research and analysis. This gives us the conviction that we must stand up for our ideas even if we disagree.

3.) Independent - Conformity is more or less synonymous with mediocrity. We are creative, self-motivated, and strive to do things our own way.

Hi @Helpingheart23! A balance of creativity and rationality while also being independent sounds like an amazing mixture for success! You already sound like you'd make a great Leader 😊

Here4good74 August 29th, 2022

@Helpingheart23 These are such powerful traits! Such thoughtful answers!

@Helpingheart23

It's important having that rationality to separate things that people fabricate from what actually is. So working with logic helps build things realistically and sustainably.

1. What is your personality type? Include your 4 letters please

I'm an Advocate, INFJ-A

2. What were the main things you learned about yourself?

"For Advocate personalities, jobs that involve helping and connecting with people can be deeply satisfying. It’s no surprise, then, that many Advocates gravitate toward work as counselors, therapists, psychologists, social workers, teachers, yoga instructors, and spiritual leaders." This portion in "Career Path" was extremely accurate for me. Currently, I'm a Professional Spiritual Life Coach and soon to be Professional Counselor in the field of Psychotherapy. This gave me personal confirmation that I'm on the right track, as Coaching and Counseling are ways I enjoy supporting people the most. I love to help people focus on healing and progression in their personal lives and goals.

3. What are your top 3 strengths or gifts according to this test? Please describe them.

Creative – "People with this personality type embrace their creative side, always on the lookout for opportunities to express themselves and think outside the box". This is very accurate about me!

Insightful – "These personalities know all too well that appearances can be misleading. Advocates strive to move beyond superficiality and seek out the deeper truths in life. This can give them an almost uncanny ability to understand people’s true motivations, feelings, and needs". This strength helps me alot as Spirituality Coach/Spiritual Life Coach.

Principled – "Advocates tend to have strong beliefs and values, particularly when it comes to matters of ethics. When Advocates talk about topics close to their heart, their conviction and heartfelt idealism can inspire and persuade even the sternest of skeptics". I have been told many times that my passion for anything I'm involved in comes off as very sincere, which it is. So I'd agree this is very accurate.

Outside of the box thinking as a quality is hard to find these days and it's brilliant that it has empowered you to be more independent, more creative, and less mediocre

@GlenM1. What is your personality type? Include your 4 letters please Â

- INTP Logician

2. What were the main things you learned about yourself?

I learned that maybe thinking a little differently than my peers and others around me is understandable, since this personality type is original with ideas and acts. I learned why I do get very curious about finding 'why's' and the scientific reason behind the phenomena.

3. What are your top 3 strengths or gifts according to this test? Please describe them.

1- INTPs are open-minded. I think this helps me understand a bigger group of people and accept differences around me.

2- being original sometimes, with new thoughts and ways of thinking.

3- curious. I think being curious makes me want to find out and read more or find out more about things and discover more.

Thank you for sharing this very insightful test 🙂

1. My Type:

Protagonist ENFJ -A

2. Things Learned:

***Taking the test has highlighted some of my character flaws, some of which I already knew but barely liked to admit having. The worst among my weaknesses that I will admit to is being condescending or in the least as coming across as such. But as soon as I feel that i'm behaving as such, I remind myself that we are all particles of light and to always carry Love in my heart

***Another thing that holds true; is that when it comes to friendships, connecting with people gives me a sense of purpose.

3.Top 3 strength / gifts:

***receptive

***reliable

***passionate

1. What is your personality type? Include your 4 letters please Â

My personality type is Advocate INFJ-T

introverted – 83%, Intuitive – 56%, Feeling – 54%, Judging – 64%, Turbulent – 75%

2. What were the main things you learned about yourself?

What I learned about myself is that I am someone who tries to be as consistent as possible. Much of the world I process and express myself through is inner and try to bring that out through actions that help bring peace in my surroundings. I also learned through the journals I’ve written throughout my life that I have continuously been through similar hurdles where I always want to do something meaningful and at the time enjoy things I imagine based on what I experience and read and watch. I have always imagined things and felt from them like how someone can sense things physically It’s felt lonely when people can’t see what you are imagining but it’s a part of my being

3. What are your top 3 strengths or gifts according to this test? Please describe them.

Writing- the main reason I put this is because whether I’m actually skilled or not I’ve always felt that this was the best way I can channel myself from mind to outer world. Other mediums like speech and postures I’ve had to learn the hard way and always need a lot of energy to work on them and probably why I get tired like in my current job when doing calls or always showing people in person that I’m trying my best. In writing, I can at least let my words show for themselves what I’m aware of and what I strive for.

Insightful- I think topics like intra and inter personal relationships have always interested me aside from it being a natural interest to everyone one way or another is wanting to grasp the bigger picture; to really see the depths behind one thing that happens or why I always seemed so inferior for example I guess I felt that I can get some power from at least thinking deeper about actions and realizing how complex things really are and seeing in some ways how I’m more normal than I’ve thought to be brings a kind of reassurance and wanting to give that back to people which is probably how things like learning to be empathetic and listening have also come more naturally and interesting while also feeling purposeful

Principled-time on end I’ve always carried out goals to be someone people can be proud of and just feel self fulfilled. Even during times I would want to sit back to take a break I would always somehow overcome that to do things that can directly help others. I think that’s what college one of the best parts of my life since that was the perfect opportunity to do things outside of my norm but also learn and make those direct impacts that make me feel I can actually care for my interests like volunteering for the environment and attending webinars.

@Mari228 This was inspiring. Being consistent is important in any field of work. writing is something I like doing too. I express myself the best by writing down what I feel then telling others how I actually feel. Being insightful helps you see a bigger picture and it is something really good to have. Thank you for sharing this with us
