Hello Leadership Crew!

I am having a blast with you all. This leadership program is a lot of fun and Im glad we are doing it. I think itll help across many fronts. Shout out to @aleks2 and @quietmagic for their help looking at the first batch of results on our leadership composition. ÃÂ

Here is a summary:

zIJtYFhsT176H3HLbLj6r3sKUo-Ru8swR4o1QUYkGs94i_8U719UfL1Z2MZoZlqsrAGJJTDxvuwFaV0BMwAMvBtABkLhUNYh2UWdI5yMoD4AC5zfx1fzNJhBspbOrQlLUIS90VeF

Here is a summary from @quietmagic on what our collective - all of us together - strengths and weaknesses might be:

Leadership Crew Strengths:

Altruism/motivation: Having a deep passion for helping people that drives all we do and creates a feeling of purpose and meaning

Idealism: Having inspiring dreams and visions of just how unbelievably powerful and beneficial this site can be: imagining all of the good we might be able to create, all of the suffering we might be able to help heal

Kindness: Being able to create a kind, cooperative, culture that is gentle and considerate with people's feelings

Compassion: Being able to understand, connect with, and feel an urgency to resolve the needs, concerns, or problems of the people that we serve

Relationship: Feeling a yearning for deep, meaningful connections with others, creating a community where people are able to be authentic and feel a sense of belongingness

Leadership Crew Weaknesses

Practical implementation: Developing and optimizing systems, managing the fine details for concretely achieving our broad goals

Risk-taking: Being willing to take risks or make drastic changes to existing systems/practices where needed

The above analysis feels/seems right to me. This new leadership program in fact can be seen as one way that we are attempting to address a growth area by optimizing our leadership systems! And, zooming back, if there was going to be a team of people that was going to try to pull off the impossible (a free emotional support system), then I think itd be with the leadership composition described above under strengths. Itll take a lot of optimism and kindness to make this a reality!

Okay, lets transition to the next exercise and discussion.

Begin by taking the Big 5 test and answering the following questions. You can also read more on the Big 5 here ÃÂ and below.

1. What were the main things you learned about yourself?

2. What are your top 3 strengths according to this test?

3. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in your personal life?

4. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in a leadership role on 7 Cups and in your career?

1. What were the main things you learned about yourself?

A couple of the categories actually said the opposite of what the Myers-Brigg test said, but they were traits that I would have the hardest time categorising myself in, and would say I could go either way depending on the situation. The other 3 matched with what the MB test said about me, and I would definitely agree with those traits. I wouldn't say I have actually learnt anything new from this test at this point, but the conflict between MB and Big Five has definitely given me something to think about and I will be observing how I react to situations now I have this information. I think I will definitely be learning more about myself over the next few weeks and months!

2. What are your top 3 strengths according to this test?

- I stay calm, even in tense situations.

- I consider the feelings of others.

- I am open to new experiences.

3. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in your personal life?

My ability to stay calm is useful in all kinds of situations as when things don't go according to plan it allows me to assess the situation and do what needs to be done without panicking. Considering the feelings of others means I am a caring friend and can (hopefully) really listen to, understand and help my friends and family. Being open to new experiences means I am not afraid to try things out to see what works for me, and I hope that will allow me to experience the best life has to offer.

4. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in a leadership role on 7 Cups and in your career?

The ability to stay calm means I can keep a clear mind and work through problems as they arise. Being open to new experiences should also help with problem solving as I can think outside the box and look for solutions that may not be obvious, and try things out until I find something that works. I hope that being kind and considerate of others' feelings will help me to develop good working relationships with people, whether they think in a similar way to me or not.

1. What were the main things you learned about yourself?

One of the main things that I learned about myself is that I can be disorganized and introverted at times. This information is true to a certain degree, as I am disorganized in some areas of my life. In terms of introversion, one could say that this is true when it comes to meeting new people or large groups.

2. What are your top 3 strengths according to this test?

According to this test, my top 3 strengths are that I am agreeable, I am open to new experiences, and I am also conscientious.

3. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in your personal life?

The strengths that I have identified on both tests can help me in my personal life because the information provided tells me that I need to cultivate my leadership skills through pursuing such opportunities that allow me to interact with others. Social environments and interactions are my strengths. Even though I tend to be introverted, I should opt to be more outgoing as it can generally benefit the whole.

4. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in a leadership role on 7 Cups and in your career?

In terms of my strengths on both tests in relation to 7 Cups and my career, I believe that the tests give me information on how to beat my altruism in order to prioritize myself and well-being prior to tackling too much for me to handle. Self-care breaks are important and I often overlook my needs in order to help others. This should not be the case and I should take more time off when I need it. I should also learn to be more organized in terms of how I do my work.

1. What were the main things you learned about yourself?

That I am somewhat conventional! And that I am not particularly nervous nor calm and I think that's quite accurate!

2. What are your top 3 strengths according to this test?

That I am very well-organized, reliable, and I am down to earth.

3. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in your personal life?

I think being organized has a big pro to it. It has always helped me stay in line and do my work efficiently. It's just the idea of being clean and tidy that is calming. As is being reliable, giving people a sense of support and security can improve relationships between you and them, and having good relationships can make your work life as well as personal life just as good.

4. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in a leadership role on 7 Cups and in your career?

I think being reliable is a great deal to being a leader on this platform. I want my peers and my leaders to be able to rely on me for things that they are trusting me with.

@GlenM

1. What were the main things you learned about yourself?

When I took the test and saw the results, I wasn't too happy about them. It took me a while to start writing this post. I'd say I learned that I need to work on myself to become more open-minded and conscious about my surroundings.

2. What are your top 3 strengths according to this test?

I don't think this test revealed many of my strengths, but from what I could make out, I am more introverted because of which I think before I speak and listen more! I couldn't find many strengths on this test, but I'm trying to take this in a positive stride to re-evaluate certain aspects of my behaviour. :)

3. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in your personal life?

I believe knowing how to prioritise is an important strength that I possess. For example- skipping an outing to finish studying for an exam is more important to me and I would prioritise that.

As I mentioned earlier, being introverted makes me more observant, and I tend to think before I speak. This quality makes me handle myself better in a crisis.

4. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in a leadership role on 7 Cups and your career?

These strengths would help shape me as a person to perform my tasks better, especially in adverse situations. I believe that knowing how to prioritise is an important skill- a quality essential for a leader. Also, listening is an important quality for a leader. By observing my surroundings, I believe I try to know my audience and listen to what they want!

@usefulSummer3139

That's amazing how you turned it into such a positve light! I, as well, didn't see many positive strengths staring back at me from the results...kind of felt judged, that I was in a "low" percentile, and was full of comparisons, but that's truly amazing how you just took some time to calm down and see exactly why you are needed in this community! We know that we only have room to grow, and we can do this!

4. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in a leadership role on 7 Cups and in your career?

My strengths will help me in a leadership role by helping me to connect to the people & i think as a listener it is important to be open-minded.

1. What were the main things you learned about yourself?

I learned that I enjoy having novel experiences and seeing things in new ways. This is very true, given how excited I was about the things I learned about myself from the personality test :-P

2. What are your top 3 strengths according to this test?

I am creative, curious, and complex. These are qualities that I have deeply admired in the people I look up to, and in the children I work with. I must say, these tests are really helping with my self-esteem :-P

3. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in your personal life?

I can use my curiosity and creativity to learn new skills and come up with new strategies to solve novel problems. I can also learn to work interdisciplinarily, and link different ideas together, even when they seem unrelated. As we know, the world is becoming increasingly complex as each day passes, and I find that learning to understand the relationships between people, ideas, and beliefs, often help us figure out the best next step for everyone.

4. How can the strengths you identified on both tests help you in a leadership role on 7 Cups and in your career?

These strengths can help me lean into the things I do best, and learn to weave in my own personal touch into each role I play and in every interaction I have with others

@GlenM

i loved this test...

Dinohorus November 12th, 2020

1. I learned that my independence is a very important part of who I am. I’ve always known that I value it immensely, but seeing it rank so high on both tests has really helped to affirm that knowledge and help me understand why I get so frustrated when I feel that my independence is being compromised.

2. According to this test, my top three strengths are: open-mindedness, conscientiousness, and extraversion. (Equivalent, respectively, to: curiosity/having a wide range of interests/independence, being hard working/dependable/organized, and being outgoing/warm/seeking adventure).

3. These strengths help me in my personal life as they allow me to approach situations in my life with a certain confidence that I can manage, no matter what is thrown my way.

4. I think that open-mindedness and conscientiousness are crucial skills to being as good a listener as possible on 7Cups, and furthermore, to being a good leader. They would allow me to remain organized and methodical all the while approaching problems creatively and without judgment. Insofar as my career, I think that being an open-minded and organized person are never bad things. Being hard working and dependable are also great traits to have.

@Dinohorus I would really agree that open-mindedness is almost a must-have for being a listener! And it's great that you got some validation for how you view yourself by getting the same results on both tests :)

1) I learned that there are so much more I need to make changes in myself.

2) I learned that I'm an open minded person, curious about everything around me and somewhat reserved than I thought. Not to forget, that I"m an independent person.

3) It helps me to be a better person and improve myselfin a leadership role on 7 Cups and in my career.
