The Quest for Self-Awareness #2 - Navigating Emotions in a Changing Environment

Change is inevitable in an ever-changing world. It can be a source of growth and progress. It can challenge us to think differently, be more flexible and push us out of our comfort zone.

However, embracing and accepting change isn't always easy.

If we've been familiar to something for a long time, it's natural to feel somewhat discomfort when stepping into something new. It makes sense to feel some level of resistance.

After all, we are creature of habit.

For example, many people are not ready to update Twitter and let the blue bird fly away for good.

While Ariana Huffington's recent LinkedIn poll about AI indicates that there is a level of discomfort for many.

Moving on to what's relevant to us 😊 Every now and then, 7 Cups changes. Some recent changes include the option to use AI in chats (JITT), the streak, and the profile page feature update.

Questions for everyone:

  1. When it comes to each of those 3 changes mentioned above, how would you rate your level of acceptance and comfort in embracing the changes, if 1 is the lowest and 10 is the highest?
  2. Out of those 3, which one do you feel the most discomfort with (if any) and why?

JITT = 1
It will lack the human. There is an equation (made by human) that is an opinion of the programmer. That is not adaptable based on experiences and culture.
in example: Describing were one motorized vehicle intersects with another. Commonly referred to as “an accident”. So did the vehicle “hit” or “collide”, “smashed”, or “crashed” each of these descriptions changes and influences our image.
I do not enjoy making a phone (for starters). But it makes it worse when I get the automated response “please press 1 for English” followed with “We are experiencing high calls then normal. Please remain on the line… Your call is important to us”. The feeling you have now is compounded by 100 for me and the thought of talking to a Listener who happens to be an AI would … not good for me.

Streak = 8
Activity is Activity. Just like JITT, there is a human portion that is important. Just because I didn’t do anything in the Growth Path doesn’t mean I didn’t “grow”. That post that I spent days on research writing might have had a serious positive impact. Or actively chatting in the Garden might have changed an outlook on something. Some people’s growth might be easier to measure than mine. Also the feeling of accomplishments has a positive impact on our growth.

Profile Page = 7
While I do like the profile page, and I generally don’t mind change. I am having issues with reading the new profile page. I have this feeling there is some information from the old profile that is missing in the new. And such things as to the meaning of the Member or Listener Level. There used to be a link off of the side but now you have to click through several sites to get to the “My Progress”

Out of those 3, which one do you feel the most discomfort with (if any) and why?

JITT – as mentioned above in my justification. LOL

Fair justifications ✨️ about Streak, I agree with your point. Every little steps count as a step towards healing and growth, as the post said.

About having to go through pages to find something that was easy to find, yesss I feel you 😅 (or we just haven't used to this).
I do like that profile page is now have option to expand for some information.

As for JITT, I hear you. Valid perspective ✨️
I'm not sure, but I believe we can edit the suggestion and adjust it to our tone. It may help non-native english speakers to express their thoughts.

I haven't tried it tho and don't have a plan yet. Unless the member uses it first, perhaps.

Thanks for sharing, Barltik! 😊
