Lonely Diary Entry ~ Cocoa

When you think about it, it's kinda silly to talk about something that "saved your life" when your life has never been in danger in the first place. And it's even more when the things that saved your life are silly themselves. But I haven't cared about that for a long time now. Life-saviors, silly things, I don't care however they're called. They're important to me.
Life is just a card game, and my deck is pretty messy. I feel like sitting at the table, looking at my options. My partner, Luck, doesn't have good cards in hand most of the time, and it's as if I played the game alone against Irony, who loves to use unexpected and bothering strategies to break down mines, and Society, specialized in lowering your confidence stat and severing your hope supplies.

A wicked game, if you want my opinion. I've been resorting to the most pernicious cards and bittersweet strategies. Recently, Irony and Society have been working on a combined move to make these exams even harder to wthstand with the judgment of everyone. I found myself desperate to find a way to slice down my rapidly increasing stress bar. in the end, I used up my Swiss Knife card, which I had kept for a while without daring resorting to it. It doesn cut down stress pretty well, and my blood stat is nearly full for now, so I've got a margin. Of course, it's that kind of cards which has huge drawbacks but it's not like I had much choice left. I also know the more you play it, the more you have to play it. And if it gets discovered by society, the resulting judgment will have the strength of an earthquake and probably shatter the whole table.
Told you it was a wicked game.

I don't wanna use that card too much. It's a nice tool when you're about to break down but I'm not paying the cost of a repetitive use just yet. I was put through rough time, however, and stress just kept skyrocketing. I needed something. The plushie card is good for some respit, but it only lasts a few minutes, just enough to try to find a strategy.

I had already used it in the past. It seems silly from the outside, but the power of the combination saved my life several times. It doesn't have a name, because I haven't seen that being used anywhere else. So I named it myself.
The Cocoa Combo.
Said like that, it almost sounds like something strong and viable, right ? If I was to tell to people my life has been repetitively saved by a hot drink and an anime girl, I think Society would be more than happy to pour all the mocking cards on me and make me break right away. So I don't tell anyone, and I just say Cocoa helped me.

They're very specific cards. Hot Cocoa is quite common, but I personnalized mine. Increased the heat stat so it nearly burns the tongue. Put a square of milk chocolate at the bottom of the cup and let it melt to enhance the sugar amount, and of course put whipped cream on top for even more sugar. Naturally, the quantity of phenylethylamine is tremendously high, perfect to reduce the power of Negative Thougts type cards Irony unleashes every rounds, and increase the power of Positive Thoughts type cards Chance shows once in a while. Anime Cocoa is much rarer. To be honest, I haven't met anyone who had that card in their deck just yet. Why is that ? I'm not sure. But what I know is how this card's carefreeness stat is higher than any other I've seen. Anything negative card below a certain power limit which is very high is instantly discared from the field on play. It's able to spawn some low-level positive cards even if the hope gauge is at zero or below. Hell, it cleanses the battlefield, even out the odds between every player and gives a chance and some hope to the one who plays it.

Just resorting to the Cocoa Combo gives out a sense of lightness and freedom that's priceless. I wish I could use it all the time, but we can't abuse of powerful things or else they lose their power. But I'm glad I have a weapon that's something else than a knife.

It saved my life. I don't care how stupid it sounds. A drink and a drawing ? A chemical compound and a fictional girl ? A hot warmth, or a warm heat ? Yes, all of these. All of these saved my life several times.
Cocoa saved my life.

@queeniel9

Oh boy, I'm not sure I've ever heard of someone who actually won that game.
I think playing to win is a lost cause. Just like all games it's much better to try to enjoy the fact of playing no matter the outcome.

Easier said than done of course.
I just wish I wasn't playing this game on my own tho. Games are funnier when you have partners and opponents... But hey, you can't force people to play a game with you ^^".

Thanks.
