The skill of critical thinking

Critical thinking is an essential skill required to be able to engage in thinking that is both reflective and independent. Without critical thinking, all people would be subject to believing everything they hear, without bothering or being able to see a need to assess and validate information. Critical thinking requires a lot from other people such as being able to check one's own biases, this self-regulation makes it possible to independently analyse information that may be viewed unfairly by oneself in an objective manner, and then with an open mind honestly digest the results of that investigation bet they favourable or unfavourable.

What is a way that you have taken information at face value without investigating? Do you now wish knowing what you know that you have done things differently?

What is a time that you did utilise critical thinking in your life? How did that impact the outcome of the situation? Compared to the time you did not use critical thinking. What conclusions are you able to draw from this? Critical thinking is one of if not the most important cognitive skills available. What are ways that you can train as well regulate your critical thinking?

Looking forward to your responses!

critical thinking is an everyday tool .... or should I say skill...Practicing and developing this can be helpful in everyday life.

Examples include for example many things  on the internet......every ad or articles sold as news but are really ads.... biased or slanted coverage of any topic.... things that simply  just do not add up.

Imagine to have the presence of critical thinking ..and stop to evaluate what information you are given ..... less likely to be rushed into a bad deal/  fall for   scams  ( that often rely on a person not doing followup on information )  or  buying into false information in general.   Even so called "fact check" sites who twist and turn and contort things  to label it ....true or false.

It is sad that so many do not learn to use critical thinking until  after they have had a bad outcome.

@Maslow

One time, me and my club members were trying to decide which charity to support with our event. At first, we were kinda swayed by what everyone else was saying and what looked good on social media. But then we stopped and really thought about it. We did some digging into different charities to see where our money would actually make the most impact. After checking out their missions and how they actually help people, we decided to go with a smaller local charity that was doing great work right in our community. It made us realize how important it is to look beyond the hype and make informed choices that really matter.
