Wrist Stretches for Gamers or Typists alike
Hello my friends! Herr Doctor is back! First off I would like to apologize for my recent hiatus, I was in the hospital from late November till now. The good news is Im out now. Yay! To make up for my time off I decided to write up my usual wrist exercise that I do every day, especially if I am going into any LAN or other sort off tournament.
Early warning: Despite what may name suggests I am not actually a doctor, I have no professional medical experience please do not hurt yourself doing these. This isnt advice or what you should/need to do, Im just sharing what I do. These are stretches not any kind of panacea, so treat them likewise.
Often after spending 8 hours at school writing and typing, then spending another couple of hours on the computer doing homework or gaming, my hand would start to cramp up a lot. I decided to look up some wrist exercises to help with the pain.
Heres what I do to start off: I put my thumb in my palm then curl my fingers around it, then lightly push down with my wrists. Holding it like that for 15-20 seconds. Key part: LIGHTLY. Many people dont stretch like this so it may hurt at first, but thats how you know you are doing it right when you start off.
After that I put my arms out straight and I try to bend my hands out flat like Im pushing against a big brick wall. I do this one for about a minute. Be careful when releasing with this one, make sure to do it slowly because it can hurt. Even I still feel pain when doing it after so long.
Next what I do is make fists and bend my wrists down. So its the opposite of what I did before. Hold this one for around 20 seconds. Again you might feel some pain but just try and stick with it, but dont push yourself too hard if it overwhelming. The pain will eventually go away. Again release slowly.
Then the ending then I put my palms together, fingers pointing upwards pushing down lightly on my wrists. After holding that for like 10 seconds, I intertwine my fingers and grasp the spaces in-between. After holding that for 5 seconds I just massage my hands, rubbing them all over, putting pressure on everything and massaging around my wrist.
So there you all have it. A nice 5 minute wrist exercise to help with wrist pain. As gamers its important to take good care of your wrists and hands so that its easier to dominate in game and ensure wrist health for the future.
And most important to remember: Always blame the controller, because it is never your fault!
@HerrDoctor
