Ten things you don't know about energy drinks
I don't think I'd consider them to be a gate way drug. However, they are very addictive!! I became addicted to energy drinks about 6 months ago and the effects have not been positive. After the first 12 weeks of drinking them I developed slurred speech and terrible mood swings. I've spent a fortune having medical tests done trying to find the cause of my new speech problem and to this point everything has been ruled out except for my high intake of energy drinks!!
What they have NOT done is made me consider using drugs!
thank you @karen38 for sharing your story with us i appreciate that , it is really helpful to know every experience with energy drinks so we could know more about it . did you stop drinking energy drinks now , and what happened to the side effects ? i would like to know ?
I have tried to quit, but am really struggling with it. Like with any addiction, I feel I cannot clearly think without them. I'm sure that is just my body trying to adjust after having it in my system for so long. Then of course there is the mental aspect of thinking you "need" it. I think quitting anything is 90% mental, which I am not good at. To this point I have been able to cut back to 1 can a day which I sip on through out the day. So far the only real side effect of cutting back has been low energy and fatige.
Against, there are so many studies that show just harmful they are :(
And with misleading advertising and false claims so many kids become addicted to them without being fully aware of how bad they are
